Principle of the Procedure

Free Cholesterol (FC) is the main component of cell membranes, and it is also an important raw material for the synthesis of Adrenal Cortex Hormones, Sex Hormones, Bile Acids and Vitamin D. The concentration of Free Cholesterol (FC) can be used as an indicator of lipid metabolism. Free Cholesterol (FC) Assay Kit provides a simple method for detecting FC concentration in a variety of biological samples such as Serum, Plasma, Tissues, Cells, and Bacteria. In the assay, Cholesterol oxidase catalyzes Free Cholesterol (FC) to produce Δ4-Cholestenone and H2O2. Further, H2O2, 4-Aminoantipyrine and Phenol can be catalyzed by Peroxidase to form red quinone compounds which has a characteristic absorption peak at 500 nm. The Free Cholesterol (FC) present in the sample is proportional to the signal obtained.
